Finally 72 years later, again Citizen Kane will be screened at Shangri-la

International Communications Broadcast Systems – By Constance Clarendon – Cambria, CA. – In 1940, William Randolph Hearst summoned a print of Orson Welles’ first opus, Citizen Kane, for viewing at his “Castle.” Shortly after that screening, Hearst offered $1 Million USD and intense threats to the summoned heads of Hollywood’s studios to “Bury” the film. Those studio heads acquiesced but were unable to compel anyone at RKO Pictures to comply. The film was released to little if any fanfare and consequently, flopped. Now, over 70 years later, Citizen Kane will be re-exhibited in the castle of its subject. Long live the King! Now, if we can find out what really happened to Tom Ince while aboard W.R. Hearst’s yacht; that might prove interesting.
