Iowa City planning to scare crows out of the downtown

press-citizen.com – By Alesha L. Crews - Iowa City is taking a stand against the invasion of crows that have been dirtying downtown city streets and causing concern with local business owners. “There are larger masses of them than I ever remember seeing before,” said Maeve Clark, the reference and instruction coordinator at the Iowa City Public Library and self-proclaimed crow appreciator. The city hopes to scare the birds to different areas of the city by hanging reflective streamers as well as a dozen yellow balloons with black and red eye markings from trees on the pedestrian mall.

“They sort of simulate an owl’s eye or a predator’s eye,” said Michael Moran, Iowa City parks and recreation director. “The ribbon is a two-inch streamer that is reflective on both sides.”

Maybe this might work on the GOP candidates too! Heck, they’ll all be gone by next Wednesday anyhow. Why bother?
